ABOUT Spiced Onion Fritters.... RECIPE

An all time favourite tea-time snack made with sliced onions and vegan chickpea batter. These are relished in most homes making tea-time a loveable affair. The crispy fritters lend a unique flavour due to carom seeds and other spices added to it. Happy Frying !!!!!!!!!!

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Gram flour or besan 2 cups
  2. onions sliced thinly 4
  3. salt 1 tsp
  4. ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  5. Carom seeds 1/2 tsp
  6. asafoetida 1/8th tsp
  7. Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
  8. cumin powder 1 tsp
  9. coriander powder 1 tsp
  10. Baking soda 1/8th tsp


  1. Add all the ingredients to a mixing bowl and make a thick batter using water as required.
  2. Do not add much water.
  3. The batter should be smooth.
  4. Keep it aside for 15 minutes.
  5. Heat enough oil for frying.
  6. Drop small balls of the batter in hot oil and deep fry until golden brown on both the sides.
  7. Keep the flame on a medium high heat only.
  8. Serve them with any chutney of your choice.
