Misti Aloo’r Pitha / Sweet Potato Jamun are made at my home as traditional specially during Makar Sankranthi. Sweet potatoes are tasty and good for health too. These special sweet best to eat with kheer/sweet mawa stuffed inside. Here I am sharing the easy and quick sweet potato Jamun made with finely grated coconut. It can be served as dessert to the guests at home.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. 4-5 medium size sweet potatoes
  2. 3-4 tablespoon of all purpose flour
  3. 5-6 tablespoon of finely grated coconut
  4. 1/2 tablespoon of cardamom powder
  5. 1 cup of sugar
  6. 1 cup of water

Instructions

  1. Boil the sweet potatoes in a cooker with 2-3 whistle
  2. Take them out from the water after boiling, peel them and smash them smooth
  3. Mix all purpose flour, grated coconut, 1/2 tablespoon of cardamom powder with the smashed potatoes and shape them like Jamun
  4. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry them in medium flame till golden in colour.
  5. Then make sugar syrup with 1 cup of water and 1 cup of sugar with 1/2 tablespoon of cardamom powder
  6. Dip the fried Jamuns in sugar syrup and let it rest for some time like 20 minutes. Take out the Jamun from sugar syrup and serve
