Potato Podimas

Ingredients to make Potato Podimas

  • Medium sized potatoes : 3
  • onion : 1
  • green chillies : 3
  • Curryleaves : 10
  • mustard : 1 teaspoon
  • urad dal : 1/2 teaspoon
  • turmeric : 1 teaspoon
  • Shredded coconut : 2 teaspoons
  • oil : 1 teaspoon
  • salt : to taste

How to make Potato Podimas

  1. Boil and mash the potatoes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, and add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start to splutter, add urad dal and curry leaves.
  3. Add onion and green chillies. Sauté for a while.
  4. Add turmeric and salt. Mix everything together.
  5. Add the mashed potatoes and mix well. Keep on low flame for a while.
  6. Once the mixture is well-cooked, add shredded coconut. Slightly mix with the ladle and switch off the flame.
  7. Potato podimas are ready to serve.
