It is different from other idli it is sweet and add some twist in the recipe

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 2.5 cup ripe Jack fruit pods
  2. 1/4 cup jaggery
  3. 1/2 cup grated coconut
  4. 1&1/4 cup semolina
  5. Ghee or honey for serving
  6. Teak or banana leaves

Instructions

  1. Cut Jack fruit with sharp knife and separate seeds from pods
  2. Don't throw seeds it can be fried and add in Sambhar
  3. Put pods in mixer and make puree without adding water
  4. Now add jaggery in puree adjust sweetness acc to taste
  5. Transfer the puree in bowl and add coconut,,salt and mix it well
  6. Then steam semolina without adding water for20 minutes but u need water in steamer
  7. Mix semolina and puree idli batter is ready
  8. These idli are usually prepared with teak leaves but u can use banana leaves also or in the idli cup
  9. Clean the leaves put a ladle of batter on leave and fold it
  10. Then keep in idli stand steam for30 minutes on low flame
  11. Switch off the flame and keep it cool for 5 min
  12. Then open and serve with ghee or honey
