This is a quick, healthy and easy recipe to make upma which is a great breakfast option.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Ghee 1tbsp
  2. 1 tsp Chana Dal soaked
  3. 1/4 th tsp hing [asafoetida]
  4. 1/2 tsp rai [mustard seeds]
  5. 1 finely chopped Green chilli
  6. 6 to 7 kadipatta
  7. 1 big onion finely chopped
  8. 1 medium size carrot finely grated orange
  9. Salt according to taste
  10. Pinch red chilli powder
  11. Pinch haldi [turmeric powder]
  12. 1/2 tsp sugar
  13. 1 lemon juice squeeze
  14. 1/4 th tomato very finely chopped
  15. 1 cup roasted semolina
  16. 3 cup luke warm water
  17. Chat Masala [as required]
  18. coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Take a pan add ghee when hot, add hing, rai, Chana Dal then add onion, kadipatta, and green chilli when pink in colour add carrot mix nicely..
  2. Add all dry masala sugar lemon juice mix nicely.. Now add roasted suji mix nicely then according to consistency add luke warm water..
  3. When it boils and is thick enough,switchoff gas sprinkle chaat Masala and coriander leaves.. Serve hot with coconut chutney
