Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500 gram chicken (cleaned and cut into small pieces)
  2. 4 onions (medium size, thinly sliced)
  3. 3 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  4. 2 green chillies
  5. 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  6. 1/2 cup coconut (bite size pieces)
  7. 2 Cardamom pods
  8. 4 cloves
  9. 2 inch piece of cinnamon
  10. 2 teaspoon chilly powder
  11. 3 teaspoon coriander powder
  12. 1 teaspoon fennel powder
  13. 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
  14. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  15. 1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
  16. 2 stalks of curry leaves
  17. Salt to taste
  18. 1 1/2 cup water
  19. 3 - 4 tablespoon coconut oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add cardamom, cloves and cinnamon and saute till they start to brown. Add coconut pieces and fry till they turn golden brown.
  2. Add onions, curry leaves and green chillies and saute till onions start to brown. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Lower the flame and add the chicken pieces along with chilly powder, coriander powder, fenugreek powder, fennel powder, garam masala and salt. Saute the chicken pieces for a couple of minutes so that it gets coated with the masala.
  4. Lastly, add water and cover and cook till the chicken is done. Serve hot with rice.
