ABOUT Dum ka Chicken RECIPE

Dum Ka Chicken in traditional method : A popular Hyderabadi dish known as Dum ka Murgh, is a very rich, aromatic and flavourful dish; chicken cooked in its own juices combined with lot of spices, cashew and cream in slow cooking method.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. chicken 1 kg
  2. Poppy seed and cashew nut paste 2 tbsp
  3. ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  4. 2 fried onion, medium size
  5. yogurt 1 cup
  6. Green chilli paste 1 tbsp
  7. Red chilli powder 1 tbsp
  8. 5 cloves
  9. 4 green cardamom
  10. 1 cinnamon stick
  11. Shahi jeera 1/2 tsp
  12. cumin powder 1/2 tsp
  13. coriander powder 1 tbsp
  14. turmeric 1/4 tsp
  15. salt to taste
  16. coriander 1/2 bunch
  17. lime juice 1 tbsp
  18. oil 2 tbsp
  19. 1 egg

Instructions

  1. TAKE A PAN (WITH LID) ADD CHICKEN, ADD CASHEW NUT POPPY SEED PASTE, GINGER GARLIC PASTE, FRIED ONIONS, YOGURT, GREEN CHILLI PASTE, RED CHILLY POWDER, WHOLE GARAM MASALA, CUMIN POWDER, CORIANDER POWDER, TURMERIC, SALT AND CHOPPED CORIANDER.
  2. SQUEEZE THE LIME JUICE AND ADD OIL. MIX THIS WELL. LET IT REST FOR 2 HOURS.
  3. AFTER THAT TAKE OUT THE CHICKEN, ADD WATER (OPTIONAL IF REQUIRED AS GRAVY ), THEN TAKE THE LID AND PLACE THE EDGES WITH DOUGH ON THE LID AND SEAL IT, COOK THIS IN A MEDIUM TO FLAME FOR 15 MINUTES AND REDUCE THE FLAME.
  4. PLACE BACK THE PAN ON THE IRON TAWA AND COOK THIS IN A SLOW FLAME FOR 25 MINUTES. THEN TURN OFF THE FLAME AND LEAVE IT ASIDE, PUT THE EGG ON TOP. SERVE THIS WITH ROTI OR RICE.
