Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Raw banana 5
  2. Thin tamarind extract from a gooseberry size tamarind 4 cups
  3. Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon
  4. Coriander seeds 3 table spoons
  5. Chana dal and urad dal 1 tb spoon each
  6. Red chillies 5
  7. Pepper and cumin 1/2 teaspoon each
  8. Oil 4 table spoons
  9. Mustard seeds 1/2 tea spoon
  10. Curry leaves few
  11. Asafoetida powder 1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Remove the stem and peel off the skin.
  2. Cut them in to thin rounds of 1/2 cm width.
  3. In a broad vessel boil the tamarind juice adding required salt and turmeric
  4. Add the chopped banana slices in to the boiling water and allow to boil just for 2 minutes.
  5. Place the boiled pieces in a colander and keep aside.
  6. In a pan dry roast coriander seeds, chana dal, urad dal, red chillies, pepper, cumin and red chillies till the dals become golden brown.
  7. Once they get cooled down, grind to coarse powder and keep aside.
  8. Heat a pan with oil, do the seasoning with mustard seeds, curry leaves and asafoetida.
  9. Transfer the boiled raw banana pieces in to the pan and fry gently in medium flame till they become crispy.
  10. Finally add the spice powder and mix well.
  11. The spicy, aromatic curry is ready now.
