Very simple raw banana and potato curry without onion or garlic for everyday meal.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Gteen banana 4 pieces
  2. Potato 2 medium
  3. Ginger paste 1/2 tsp
  4. Paanchphoran ( even mixture of whole cumin,coriander, kalaonji , mustard seeds and fennel seeds)
  5. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  6. Coriander powder 1 tsp
  7. Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  8. Black pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  9. Salt as per taste
  10. Mustard oil as required
  11. Ghee 1 tsp
  12. Garam masala powder 1/2 tsp
  13. Soy chunks / Dal vadi optional

Instructions

  1. Cut the top and bottom most part of green banana , pressure cook for 3 whistle with 1/3 tsp salt , keep aside to release the vapour naturally
  2. Peel and cut the potatoes in medium cubes
  3. Make ginger paste ready
  4. Heat oil in a medium size kadai
  5. Shallow fry potatoes until red in low heat , keep aside
  6. In the same pan add bay lead and pasnchphoron
  7. Add ginger paste , saute for 30 seconds
  8. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, black pepper powder, chilli powder and salt. Add 1 tsp water. Saute and blend well all the spices .
  9. Add banana spices , add little more oil if needed. Fry banan pieces until light golden in low heat
  10. Add warm water and fried potatoes
  11. Cover and cook in low heat until both potato and banana pieces are soft
  12. Add boiled and lightly fried soya badi or fried dal vadi
  13. When gravy turns to the desire consistency switch off gas
  14. Add haram masala powder and ghee.
  15. Rest for some time and serve hot with steamed rice along with aloo bhaja and dal for a complete Bengali meal.
