ABOUT Spicy Chicken Drumstick Fry - South Indian Style RECIPE

This chicken drumstick fry is a popular starter among non-vegetarians. It is marinated with Indian aromatic spices and deep fried in oil. I am sure it's a crowd pleaser and perfect for parties/ get togethers.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Chicken legs - 8
  2. Ginger-garlic paste - 2 tsp
  3. Turmeric powder- 1/4 tsp
  4. Red chilli powder - 1 to 1 and 1/2 tsp
  5. Coriander powder - 3/4 to 1 tsp
  6. Pepper powder - 1/4 tsp
  7. Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  8. Lemon juice - juice from 1/2 lemon
  9. Rice flour - 1 tbsp
  10. Red food colour - a pinch (optional)
  11. Salt - to taste
  12. Curry leaves - 1 or 2 sprig

Instructions

  1. Clean the chicken legs and make slits on each piece.
  2. To marinate, mix the turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala powder, salt, lemon juice and rice flour.
  3. Add few curry leaves in the oil and drain. Keep it aside. Apply this mixture over the chicken pieces and allow it to marinate for 4 to 5 hours, preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
  4. Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry the marinated chicken pieces to a golden brown colour on a medium flame.
  5. Serve it hot!
