About Raw jackfruit-rice dumplings Recipe

I have very fond memories of these snacks prepared by my mother. We as kids used to enjoy them during holidays.

Raw jackfruit-rice dumplings

Ingredients to make Raw jackfruit-rice dumplings

  • Chopped Raw jackfruit – 2 cups
  • rice – 1 cup
  • maida – ¼ cup
  • onion – 1 big
  • Green chillis – 2 (as per taste)
  • ginger – 1 inch piece
  • curry leaves - 1-2 strands
  • salt – to taste
  • oil – for deep frying

How to make Raw jackfruit-rice dumplings

  1. Wash and soak rice for 4 hours.
  2. Clean, deseed jackfruit & chop finely
  3. Wash soaked rice. Grind rice, jackfruit pieces and ginger to smooth paste by adding little water. Add salt to taste.
  4. Chop onions, green chillis, curry leaves finely. Add these to the rice – jackfruit batter.
  5. Add maida and mix well. Adjust to the consistency which is neither too watery, nor solid.
  6. Pour oil to a frying pan, heat it up. To check the readiness, drop a bit of batter to oil which should float.
  7. When done, take about a spoonful of dough in hand, give a round shape and slide into oil. Fry until golden brown.
  8. Serve these with tomato sauce or chutney of choice.
