ABOUT Tawa fry idli RECIPE

It is a new buttery taste of idli when fried on tawa simply awesome. You can serve it as a snack or starter or carry in Tiffan with chutney of your choice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Semolina 1 cup
  2. Rice flour 1/4 cup
  3. Curd 1 cup
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Sugar 2 tablespoon
  6. Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
  7. Carrot 1 grated
  8. Ginger chopped 1 tablespoon
  9. Green chillies 1 chopped
  10. Mint leaves 2 tablespoon chopped
  11. Eno fruit salt 1 teaspoon
  12. For 1st tempering:
  13. Oil 1 tablespoon
  14. Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  15. Asfetoida 1/2 teaspoon
  16. Curry leaves 5
  17. Red chilli powder 1 teaspoon
  18. Bengal gram 2 tablespoon
  19. Urad dal 2 tablespoon
  20. For frying idli:
  21. Butter 2 tablespoon
  22. Mustard seeds 2 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Add semolina and rice flour mix well. Add other ingredients except eno and mix curd.
  2. Mix well and add chopped mint leaves.
  3. Now add oil in a pan and add tempering ingredients to it. And pour this over idli batter. And mix well.
  4. Let it rest for 20 minutes. Mix well. After 20 minutes mix well and add water if needed.
  5. Now heat a steamer and grease the idli moulds. Add eno and mix pour immediately this mixture to moulds and put to steamer. And cover lid. Cook for 10 mintues.
  6. After 10 minutes open the lid and check with a toothpick. If it comes clean then it is ready. Let it cool and remove from mould.
  7. Now heat a tawa add butter and mustard seeds fry idlis on this from both sides.
  8. Now remove in serving dish. Serve with chutney of your choice. Your tawa fry idlis are ready.
