Pepper chicken

Ingredients to make Pepper chicken

  • 500 gms, small pieces of chicken
  • 2 chopped onion
  • 1 chopped tomato
  • 20 pieces curry leaves
  • 2 chopped green chillies
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp freshly crushed pepper powder
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp aniseeds powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  • 6 cloves
  • 2 green cardamons
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Handful of fresh coriander for garnishing

How to make Pepper chicken

  1. Marinate the chicken pieces with ginger-garlic, 1 tsp salt and turmeric powder for 20 mins.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, crackle the cloves and cardamons and fry until its fragrant. Add in the mustard seeds and let them crackle, add onions, green chillies and curry leaves, saute and fry till its tender.
  3. Then add the chicken pieces and fry on a high flame and brown them.
  4. Now lower the flame and add salt, pepper powder, coriander powder, aniseeds powder, garam masala powder and saute and fry until the oil separates.
  5. Add the tomatoes and cook it covered in a low flame for 4-5 mins stirring from time to time.
  6. Now add 1/2cup of water and cover and cook for another 5-7mins. The gravy should be thick.
  7. Finally garnish with fresh coriander and its done.
