Foxtail is a kind of navadanyam... A healthy yummy meal.. Can be served as an alternative to rice.. Very good for diabetic patients :blush::blush::blush:

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Onion 1 big
  2. Dry red chill 3
  3. Urud dal 1tbsp
  4. Mustard seeds 1tsp
  5. Asafoetida 1/4 tsp
  6. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  7. Salt as req
  8. Water 5 cups

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the foxtail rice untill mild golden..
  2. Heat oil (much of oil is not req) in a cooker.. Add urud dal mustard seeds red chillis and temper it.
  3. Add onions and salt for cooking it. Cook untill it becomes transparent.
  4. Now add the roasted foxtail and mix it well.
  5. Add turmeric powder asafoetida and water. Mix well. Add salt as req..
  6. Now pressure cook it for 10 min in low flame.. Untill the rice cooks.. I love it to b squashy so i hav added extra water to it n i feel it tastes better if its squashy...
  7. Tadddaaa!! Healthy meal is all set to b tasted:yum::yum:..
