About Thur Rosha Recipe

This recipe is made of raw banana flowers. Banana flowers are called Dhur in Bengali and Rosha means a gravy made of spices. I added potatoes in it as it’s a Bengali cuisine recipe. It’s a very healthy vegetable as they have a good quantity of iron and nutrients in it.

Thur Rosha

  • 1 potato cut into slices
  • 1/2 tablespoon of fenugreek seeds

How to make Thur Rosha

  1. Take the inside part of the banana flower and cut into half
  2. Boil it in turmeric water for 10 minutes
  3. After that take them out of water and keep aside
  4. Make batter with all purpose flour, salt, turmeric powder and water to dip the pieces and fry
  5. Fry them in a pan till brown
  6. In another kadai, heat oil and temper fenugreek seeds in it and fry the potato slices
  7. Add salt, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and garam masala powder.
  8. Sauté them for a minute
  9. Pour a cup of water and boil. Add the fried banana flower in it.
  10. Boil it for 2 more minutes and then off the flame and spread 2 tablespoon of ghee in it.
  11. Garnish with 2 tablespoon of cream and green chilli. Serve warm.

My Tip:

You can add 1/2 tablespoon of onion seeds in the batter used for frying.Add the grid banana flower in the last stage of the curry or else they breaks.
