ABOUT Majjiga Pulusu- White Pumpkin Buttermilk Pulusu RECIPE

A tangy dish made out of buttermilk and white pumpkin.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Sour Curd- 1 cup
  2. White pumpkin cubes- 2 cups
  3. Coconut - 1 tbsp
  4. Besan or chickpea flour - 2 tbsp
  5. Rice Flour - 1/2 tbsp
  6. Whole Dhania or dhania powder - 1 tsp
  7. Green Chillies - 1 or 2
  8. Turmeric powder- a pinch
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Coriander leaves for garnishing
  11. Seasoning Ingredients: Mustard, Curry leaves, Hing, Methi, Red chilli pieces

Instructions

  1. In a small mixer, blend the green chillies, coconut, dhania, rice flour, chana flour and turmeric. Add a little curd and blend.
  2. Then pour in a little water and whisk the remaining curds.
  3. In a kadai add oil. Make the seasoning with mustard, red chilli, methi seeds, curry leaves and hing.
  4. Add the white pumpkin cubes, salt and sufficient water. Cook till the vegetables are done.
  5. Next, add the ground masala, whisked curd and sufficient water. Stir while cooking. It will start gaining a yellow colour and thicken. Bring it to a boil.
  6. Top it with finely chopped coriander.
