Plantain poriyal

Ingredients to make Plantain poriyal

  • to cook :- plantain - 2, 1/4 tsp turmeric and salt to taste.
  • to coarsely blend :- grated coconut 2-3 tbsp, cumin seeds -1/2 tsp, red chilli - 2-3
  • for tempering:-oil - 1 tbsp,mustard & urad dal - 1tsp,hing - 2 pinch, chopped onion -1 ,curry leaves -few.

How to make Plantain poriyal

  1. Cut the edge of plantain and cut into half. Cook this with water, turmeric powder and salt.
  2. Drain and peel, cut into small pieces.
  3. Heat oil in a pan ,add mustard & urad dal, hing and curry leaves, when it pops add chopped onion, stir well.
  4. Then add cooked plantain slices, mix well. add little salt to taste.
  5. Add coarse coconut paste and stir well.keep 2 minutes in a low flame. switch off. Plantain poriyal is ready. Serve as side dish with hot rice and sambar.

My Tip:

the same method, you can make plaintain puttu, instead of cut into slices just grate the cooked plantain.
