ABOUT Prawn kofta curry RECIPE

An unusual yet delicious kofta curry made with prawns. Ultimate combination with rice, chapathi and idiyappam.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Prawns : 2 cups
  2. Coconut : 1/2 cup + 1 cup
  3. Bengal gram : 2 table spoons
  4. Onion : 3
  5. Tomato : 1
  6. Green chilli : 3
  7. Ginger garlic paste : 2 tablespoons
  8. Chilli powder : 2 tablespoons
  9. Jeera powder : 2 teaspoons
  10. Coriander powder : 2 teaspoons
  11. Oil : 4 tablespoons
  12. Salt : to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a kadaai
  2. Add prawns and let it cooked for 2-3 minutes
  3. Then add little salt and around 1 tablespoon of chilli powder
  4. After 5 minutes switch off the flame and allow it to cool
  5. In a mixie jar add cooked prawns, 1 tablespoon of ginger garlic paste, 1 teaspoon of cumin powder, 1 green chilli, 1 onion, half a cup of grated coconut and Bengal gram
  6. Grind. Transfer it to a bowl
  7. Add the remaining coconut in the mixie jar and grind it into a smooth paste
  8. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a kadaai
  9. Add the remaining onion and green chillies and saute well
  10. Once the onion becomes transparent add remaining ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell goes
  11. Then add finely chopped tomatoes and salt and remaining amount of chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and saute well
  12. Then add grounded coconut paste
  13. Mix everything together and keep it in high flame for 4-5 minutes
  14. After 4-5 minutes take a lemon sized quantity of the grounded prawn batter and put it in the gravy
  15. After putting all the batter close the kadaai with a lid and keep it low flame for 5-6 minutes
