An unusual yet delicious kofta curry made with prawns. Ultimate combination with rice, chapathi and idiyappam

Prawn kofta curry

Ingredients to make Prawn kofta curry

  • Prawns : 2 cups
  • coconut : 1/2 cup + 1 cup
  • Bengal gram : 2 table spoons
  • onion : 3
  • tomato : 1
  • Green chilli : 3
  • ginger garlic paste : 2 tablespoons
  • chilli powder : 2 tablespoons
  • jeera powder : 2 teaspoons
  • coriander powder : 2 teaspoons
  • oil : 4 tablespoons
  • salt : to taste

How to make Prawn kofta curry

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a kadaai
  2. Add prawns and let it cooked for 2-3 minutes
  3. Then add little salt and around 1 tablespoon of chilli powder, mix well and let it get cooket for 5 more minutes
  4. After 5 minutes switch off the flame and allow it to cool
  5. In a mixie jar add cooked prawns, 1 tablespoon of ginger garlic paste, 1 teaspoon of cumin powder, 1 green chilli, 1 onion, half a cup of grated coconut and Bengal gram
  6. Grind them into a smooth paste
  7. The consistency of the paste should be like vadai batter
  8. Transfer it to a bowl
  9. Add the remaining coconut in the mixie jar and grind it into a smooth paste
  10. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a kadaai
  11. Add the remaining onion and green chillies and saute well
  12. Once the onion becomes transparent add remaining ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell goes
  13. Then add finely chopped tomatoes and cook well untill it becomes mashy
  14. Then add salt and remaining amount of chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and saute well
  15. Then add grounded coconut paste
  16. Mix everything together and keep it in high flame for 4-5 minutes
  17. After 4-5 minutes take a lemon sized quantity of the grounded prawn batter and put it in the gravy
  18. After putting all the batter close the kadaai with a lid and keep it low flame for 5-6 minutes
  19. After 5-6 minutes open the lid and slowly turn the kofta balls into the another side and keep it in low flame for 2 more minutes then switch off the flame
  20. That's all...!!!! Our prawn kofta curry is ready.... Enjoy it with chapati, rice and idiyappam...
