Potato curry....no onion, no garlic

Ingredients to make Potato curry....no onion, no garlic

  • potato : 6 (peeled, washed & chopped)
  • mustard oil : 4 tbsp
  • Dry red chilli : 3 broken
  • cumin seeds : 1/2 tsp
  • mustard seeds : 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli ginger paste : 1-1/2 tbsp
  • Raw turmeric : 2 tsp grated (optional)
  • tomato : 7 pureed
  • salt to taste
  • sugar : 1/2 tsp (optional)
  • Kashmiri red chilli powder to taste
  • coriander powder to taste
  • Kasuri methi : 1 tbsp
  • turmeric powder to taste
  • Garam masala to taste
  • For garnishing :
  • Chaat masala to taste
  • coriander leaves a handful

How to make Potato curry....no onion, no garlic

  1. In a pressure cooker heat oil till hot. Add mustard seed, cumin seed and dry red chilli. Saute for a few sec.
  2. Add raw turmeric and green chilli ginger paste. Saute for few sec. Add tomato puree and mix well.
  3. Add salt, sugar, kashmiri red chilli powder, kasuri methi, coriander powder and garam masala powder. Mix well.
  4. Cook for 10-15 min till raw smell of tomatoes are gone. Now add 1/4 cup water and again cook for few min. Add potatoes and mix well.
  5. Add water as needed for the gravy. Cover and cook for 3-4 whistles. Switch off the gas and let it cool completely.
  6. Open the lid and sprinkle chaat masala and garnish with coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot with parathas or puri.
