It is not only tasty but absolutely healthy, good enough for dieters too.This recipe though simple is; yet is full of nutrients, aroma and wholesomeness.The fenugreek aroma that arises when the fish is being sauted is just .... splendid!!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Fish fillet 1/2 kg ( Nile Perch or Hamour variety) washed and marinated. with salt for 20 minutes
  2. fenugreek leaves 1 bunch chopped
  3. coriander leaves 1/2 cup chopped
  4. tomatoes 2 medium pureed
  5. onion 1 small finely chopped
  6. Spring onion 1 stalk chopped
  7. garlic cloves 6 to 8 chopped
  8. Green chillies 2 chopped
  9. turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  10. coriander powder 2 teaspoon
  11. Red Chilli Powder 1/2 teaspoon
  12. Garam masala powder 1/4 teaspoon
  13. oil 3 tablespoons
  14. salt to taste


  1. Heat oil in a pan and saute the onions and garlic till pink.
  2. Add the chopped fenugreek leaves and saute for a few seconds
  3. Add the coriander leaves, pureed tomatoes, spring onions and green chillies
  4. Now add the turmeric powder, coriander powder and chilli powder
  5. Saute nicely till oil starts oozing from sides.
  6. Gently tip in the fish fillets and saute well.
  7. Add nearly a cup of water. Let it come to a boil.
  8. Then reduce the flame to low.. Sprinkle garam masala.
  9. Cover and let it simmer on low for 15 - 20 minutes.
  10. Put off flame and serve hot with rice or rotis.
