About Butter chicken Recipe

This delicious chicken recipe is also popular by its Hindi name - murgh makhani.

Butter chicken

Ingredients to make Butter chicken

  • For marinade
  • 400 gm chicken
  • 2 tspn ginger paste
  • 1 tblspn garlic powder
  • 1 tspn garam masala powder
  • 1 tspn red chilli powder
  • 1/2 cup hung curd
  • salt to taste
  • oil
  • For gravyi
  • 1/2 cup tomato puree
  • 1 tspn ginger paste
  • 1 tspn garlic paste
  • 1 tspn red chilli powder
  • 1 tblspn honey or sugar
  • 1/2 cup fresh cream
  • 2 tblspn cashew paste
  • 1/2 tspn kasturi mathi
  • 2-3 cloves
  • 2-3 green cardamom
  • 1 Bayleaf
  • 5-6 black pepper
  • 2 tblspn butter
  • a pinch food colour
  • salt to taste

How to make Butter chicken

  1. Wash and marinate the chicken pieces with ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, garam masala powder, hung curd and salt. Keep it in refrigerator about 5 to 6 hourse.
  2. Drizzle some oil in non stick pan and heat. Place chicken pieces on it.
  3. Grill the pieces very well 
  4. Heat some oil and butter in kadhaie. Add cloves, green cardamom, bay leaf, black pepper. Now add ginger-garlic paste saute well. Add tomato puree cook about 3-4 min. Add some food colour and water bring it to boil.
  5. Add grill chicken, cashew paste and fresh cream cook about 4 to 5 min. Add kastoori methi and turn off the flame.
  6. Serve with butter naan or chapatis
