About Hummus Recipe

A classic Middle Eastern condiment to go with pita bread and falafels.

Hummus

Ingredients to make Hummus

  • 1 cup white chickpeas/garbanzo beans
  • 3-4 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 cup home made tahini paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 4 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  • salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika(optional)

How to make Hummus

  1. Wash and soak chickpea in water overnight.Drain and let them cook in pressure cooker for whistles or if using pan up to an hour or until chickpeas are soft. Drain the water and let the chickpeas cool.
  2. In a food processor pulse the chickpeas until smooth. Add tahini paste , lemon juice,olive oil,cumin seeds and salt.Process until smooth paste forms.
  3. Transfer in serving bowl and drizzle with some more olive oil and sprinkle paprika. Serve with pita bread,crackers or roasted vegetables.
