About Karupatti kadappasi Recipe

This is a dessert made with agar agar and palmsugar. Very healthy very yummy and very easy to make. This is one of our town's traditional desserts which was very common at our grandmother's time.

Ingredients to make Karupatti kadappasi

  • Agar agar : 2 hands full
  • Palm sugar : 150 to 200 grams (according to your taste)
  • coconut : 1/2
  • water : around 5 cups

How to make Karupatti kadappasi

  1. ADD HALF OF A GRATED COCONUT IN A MIXIE JAR AND GRIND WELL
  2. MAKE 1 CUP OF THICK COCONUT MILK AND KEEP IT ASIDE
  3. SOAK 2 HANDS FULL OF AGAR AGAR (KADAPPASI) IN 5 CUPS OF WATER FOR 10 MINUTES
  4. PUT THE AGAR AGAR WITH THE SOAKED WATER IN HIGH FLANE UNTILL IT DISSOLVES COMPLETELY
  5. ONCE THE AGAR AGAR IS DISSOLVED WASH AND ADD 150 GRAMS OF PALM SUGAR (KARUPPATI) WITH THE AGAR AGAR
  6. LET IT DISSOLVE COMPLETELY
  7. KEEP IN HIGH FLAME
  8. ONCE THE PALM SUGAR IS COMPLETELY DISSOLVED STRAIN THE AGAR AGAR WATER IN A PLATE
  9. ALLOW IT TO REST FOR 2 TO 3 MINUTES
  10. AFTER 2 TO 3 MINUTES ADD THICK COCONUT MILK AND ALLOW IT TO COOL COMPLETELY. SO THAT IT WILL FREEZE
