ABOUT Gajar ka halwa RECIPE

The quintessential desert of the winters, made with carrots, khoya and the extra delicuiousness of milkmaid !!

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Grated carrots - 1 cup
  2. Cashew nuts and raisins - 1/4 th cup
  3. Sugar - 1/2 cup
  4. Ghee - 3 tbsp
  5. Milkmaid condensed milk - 3/4 th cup
  6. Cardamom (crushed) - 1/2 tsp
  7. Khoya - 1/2 cup
  8. Home made khoya :
  9. Milk powder - 1 cup
  10. Ghee - 1/4 th cup
  11. Milk - 1/4 th cup

Instructions

  1. Heat a heavy bottomed pan with some ghee, fry the cashew nuts and raisins, keep aside.
  2. Add the grated carrots in the pan with the ghee. Stir and cook on a low flame till it is soft and almost cooked.
  3. Add the crushed CARDAMOM, milkmaid and stir. Cook till the carrots are done.
  4. Then add the khoya and mix it well. Finally decorate it with cashew nuts and raisins.
  5. To make the khoya at home :Mix the milk powder, milk and ghee together to form a paste. Heat this in a microwave for 3 minutes by stirring it once in every 30 seconds. This forms a thick Mawa.
