ABOUT Burani Raita | Garlic Raita RECIPE

A simple blend of yogurt, garlic and Indian spices makes the Burani Raita. Serve this garlic raita with pulao, biryani or khichdi. Burani raita is a popular raita which is prepared by garlic. It is a famous Hyderabadi raita which can be served as a side dish. Burani raita is also known as Garlic raita. It can be prepared using garlic, curd and aromatic Indian spices. This refreshing and flavorful Garlic raita is creamy and delicious, which is quick and easy to prepare. You can also prepare it at your home. Make a smooth mixture of yogurt by beating it in a bowl and add ginger and curry leaves in the hot oil. When the ginger turns into brown color then add it to the yogurt. Add salt, chili powder, cumin powder and cilantro leaves to it and mix it well. You can add coriander powder and chat masala to enhance the taste of this Burani raita. Garnish this by using coriander leaves and mint leaves. Garlic raita is a refreshing and lip smacking dish which you can serve with any biryani or pulao or tandoori or kababs. Prepare this Burani raita and serve it to your family and friends.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Garlic 1-2 cloves, minced
  2. Yogurt 1 cup
  3. Curry leaves 1-2
  4. Oil/ Ghee 1 tsp
  5. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  6. Cumin powder 1 tsp
  7. Salt 1 tsp
  8. Few cilantro leaves

Instructions

  1. Beat the yogurt in a bowl and make a smooth mixture.
  2. Heat oil or ghee in a pan, add the garlic and curry leaves. Once the garlic starts to brown and does not smell raw, add the mixture to yogurt.
  3. Add some cumin powder, salt, red chilli powder and mix it well.
  4. Top it with some more red chilli powder, cumin powder and cilantro.
  5. Serve it with pulao, biryani or roti.
