About Nethili Karuvattu Kuzhambu Recipe

A scrumptious curry with dried anchovies. My grandma style curry with a special ingredient which brings adds its flavour and aroma to the dish.

Nethili Karuvattu Kuzhambu

Ingredients to make Nethili Karuvattu Kuzhambu

  • 50 gms Dried Anchovies
  • 4 sliced brinjals
  • 5 sliced shallots
  • 2" Maa Inji (curcuma amada)
  • 1 Chopped tomato
  • Small gooseberry size tamarind
  • 2.5 tablespoon homemade sambar powder
  • 2 Tablespoon gingelly oil
  • 1 Tableapoon thalippu vadagam(black Tempering mixture)
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 Tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
  • Grind No.1 : 7 shallots
  • Half tomato
  • Grind No.2 : 1/3 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds

How to make Nethili Karuvattu Kuzhambu

  1. SOAK SMALL GOOSEBERRY SIZE TAMARIND
  2. 7 SHALLOTS
  3. HALF TOMATO
  4. GRIND TO COARSE
  5. CRUSH 2" LONG MAA INJI (CURCUMA AMADA)
  6. EXTRACT TAMARIND JUICE TWICE
  7. 5 SLICED SHALLOTS
  8. 10 CLOVES GRALIC
  9. ADD GROUND ONION TOMATO PUREE
  10. 2.5 TABLESPOON HOME MADE SAMBAR POWDER
  11. SALT
  12. 1 CHOPPED TOMATO
  13. 4 SLICED BRINJALS
  14. 2 CUPS WATER
  15. MIX AND CHECK FOR SALT
  16. 2 TABLESPOON GINGELLY OIL
  17. 1 TABLESPOON THALIPPU VADAGAM
  18. AFTER MUSTARD SPLUTTERS ADD THE MIXTURE
  19. CLOSE AND COOK FOR 3 MINUTES
  20. SOAK 50 GMS DRIED ANCHOVIES IN HOT WATER FOR 2 MINUTES. CLEAN&WASH SEVERAL TIMES TO GET RID OF SAND
  21. ADD CURCUMA AMADA
  22. CRUSHED AND ADD CURRY LEAVES
  23. CLEANED ANCHOVIES
  24. COOK FOR 2 MINUTES
  25. 1/3 CUP GRATED COCONUT
  26. 1/2 TSP CUMIN SEEDS AND GRIND TO FINE PASTE
  27. ADD GROUND COCONUT, STIR IMMEDIATELY
  28. ADD 1 TABLESPOON CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES AND REMOVE FROM HEAT
