About Prawn malai curry Recipe

This is a traditional Bengali dish made with coconut milk

Prawn malai curry

Ingredients to make Prawn malai curry

  • 250gms of big size prawns
  • Few green cardamom
  • bay leaf
  • 1 stick cinnamom
  • Few cloves
  • I onion
  • Few green chillies
  • turmeric powder
  • red chilli powder
  • 1 cup coconut milk
  • red chilli powder
  • cumin powder 1tsp
  • salt to taste
  • Little sugar
  • ginger paste 1tsp
  • mustard oil for cooking

How to make Prawn malai curry

  1. Marinate the prawns with salt and turmeric powder for few minutes
  2. Heat oil and fry the prawns till light colour and keep aside
  3. In the remaining oil add the bay leaf and whole garam Masala
  4. As it splutters add the onion paste
  5. Saute till the raw smell goes.
  6. Add ginger paste
  7. Then the dry Masala powders
  8. Saute till oil separates
  9. Then add the coconut milk along with some water
  10. Lower the flame and let it cook for some time
  11. As oil floats add the fried prawns
  12. Add salt and sugar
  13. Cover and cook for another 2-3 minutes
  14. Switch off the flame and serve with steamed rice or pulao

My Tip:

Do not over cook the prawns otherwise it will become hard
