ABOUT SHEPU DAL / DILL DAL RECIPE

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Dill Leaves / Shepu – 1 Cup
  2. Yellow Moong Lentil / moong dal - 1 Cup
  3. Mustard Seeds / rai – ½ tsp
  4. Cumin Seeds / jeera – ½ tsp
  5. Grated Garlic Cloves – 5 to 6
  6. Red Chilli Powder / lal mirchi – ½ tsp
  7. Turmeric Powder / haldi – 1/4th tsp
  8. Salt – 3/4th tsp
  9. Water – 2 Cups (Dal : Water ratio 1:2)
  10. Oil – 2 Tablespoon

Instructions

  1. In a pan add 2 Tablespoon Oil and let it heat.
  2. Then add Mustard seeds (Rai) and Cumin Seeds (Jeera) in the oil followed by washed and roughly chopped Dill Leaves (Shepu) and sauté the Shepu for 2 Min.
  3. Then washed yellow Moong Dal in the pan and mix well.
  4. Furthermore, add Red Chilli Powder (lal mirchi), Turmeric Powder (haldi) and grated Garlic.
  5. Then add 2 Cups of Water and Salt into it and stir well.
  6. Simmer gas on low flame for 15-20 Min until Moong Dal is cooked properly, you can make this in pressure cooker as well and just take one whistle.
  7. Check the Dal if cooked properly by pressing it, if it breaks easily then its ready to serve.
  8. Served with Jowar Roti or Chapati.
