About Arachuvitta Vengaya Sambar Recipe

This is a traditional dish from Tamilnadu.. Any special occasion or when guests come this the usual dish that my mom would make, its simple and health yet infinitely delicious

Arachuvitta Vengaya Sambar

Ingredients to make Arachuvitta Vengaya Sambar

  • 1 cup toor dal
  • 1 cup finely sliced onions
  • 1 cup carrot diced into cubes
  • 1 green chilli
  • 1 capsicum finely sliced
  • 1 cup chopped coriander leaves
  • Half cup dhania seeds
  • 3 tea spoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon urad dal
  • 1 tea spoon method leaves
  • 6-7 dried red chillies
  • 3-4 spoons chana dhal
  • 4-5 spoons cup oil
  • salt to taste
  • 1 large spoon tamarind paste
  • 1 finely chopped tomato
  • 1 cup small onions

How to make Arachuvitta Vengaya Sambar

  1. Start by pressure cooking the food dhal for 3-4 whistles
  2. Take a pan heat some oil and add mustard seeds when this splutters add the urad dal, Chana dal, cumin, dhania and fry till red
  3. Add the dried red chilli and sauté well
  4. Add half cup onion and the tomato and sauté for another couple of minutes
  5. Blend this into a fine paste
  6. Take another pan heat oil and add mustard seeds, add the chopped vegetables and cook till the vegetables are done
  7. Add the small onions now
  8. Add the blended paste and let the Sambar cook for 10 minutes
  9. Add the mashed tooth dhal that is pressure cooked and add salt
  10. Let this cook for 10 minutes
  11. Now add the tamarind paste
  12. Top with coriander leaves and serve
  13. Now you have yummy arachuvitta Vengaya sambar

My Tip:

The small onions makes the dish extremely tasty
