About Butter Paneer Masala Recipe

Cottage cheese cubes in a rich , creamy gravy

Butter Paneer Masala

Ingredients to make Butter Paneer Masala

  • 250 gms paneer ( cut into cubes)
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 2 tbs oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp red chilly powder
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 3 large onions
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 2 - 3 Green cardamoms
  • 1 inch stick cinnamon
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 15 - 20 cashews
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 2 tbs cream
  • salt to taste

How to make Butter Paneer Masala

  1. Heat 1 tbs butter and 1 tbs oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
  2. Add cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and fry for a minute. Add ginger garlic paste and saute. Add chopped onions and fry till translucent.
  3. Add tomatoes and cook till soft. Add cashews, salt and 1 cup water and cook till soft. Cool and grind to a smooth paste.
  4. In the same pan, again heat 1 tbs butter and 1 tbs oil. Add the red chilly powder and bay leaf and fry for a few seconds.
  5. Add the paste and cook for a few minutes. Add the spice powders and mix well. More water can be added to adjust the consistency.
  6. Add 1 tbs cream and mix well. Add the paneer cubes and cook for 5 minutes.
  7. Garnish with chopped coriander and remaining cream. Serve hot.

My Tip:

A teaspoon of sugar can also be added to the gravy. It gives a nice taste.
