About Matar nimona Recipe

Its traditional dish made specially in winter season.

Matar nimona

Ingredients to make Matar nimona

  • Fresh Green peas 1 cup
  • Chopped onion 1 medium size
  • Chopped potatoes 1 medium size
  • Chopped cauli flower 1/4 cup
  • Chopped tomato 1 medium size
  • Green chilli 2
  • garlic cloves 6
  • Moong badi 6
  • Asafetida 1 pinch
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • Sabji masala 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • For tadka-ghee 1/2 tbsp
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • cloves 4
  • garlic cloves chopped 4

How to make Matar nimona

  1. Add green peas,chilli and garlic with little water in mixer jar and grind it
  2. Now heat oil in a kadhai
  3. Add asafetida and cumin seeds
  4. When it crackles add moong badis to it and fry it
  5. Now add the grinded peas paste and roast it for few minutes
  6. Now add all the masala and again roast it.
  7. Add potatoes and cauli flower and cover and cook it for few minutes on low flame
  8. Now add tomato and salt to it and again cover and cook for few minutes.
  9. Now add 1/2 litre water and cover the lead and cook it for few minutes
  10. Check the vegetables either they cooked properly or not, if cooked off the flame
  11. Add ghee in a small frying pan and when it heated add cumin seeds,cloves and garlic cloves to it.
  12. Serve it with rice and paratha.

My Tip:

Make it on low flame only
