Ingredients to make Pelalu / Parched Grain/Fried paddy Ladoos - A healthy Snack

  • Parched Grain/ pelalu – 3 cups
  • jaggery – 1 ½ cups
  • Black pepper powder – 2 pinches
  • coconut slices – 1/4 cup
  • water-as required
  • clarified butter/ghee- 1/4 cup

How to make Pelalu / Parched Grain/Fried paddy Ladoos - A healthy Snack

  1. Heat a pan. Pour 1 cup of water to it. Then add grated jaggery.
  2. Stir it well on a low flame, till the jaggery melts and the jaggery syrup attains a string like consistency.
  3. In the meanwhile,heat another pan. Fry the coconut slices in ghee until they turn light brown.
  4. Now add parched grain/ pelalu, black pepper powder, fried coconut slices to the jaggery syrup.
  5. Mix well.Turn off the flame.
  6. Transfer this mixture into a plate. Make round sized balls/ladoos out of it.
  7. These ladoos can be stored for two to three weeks when kept in an airtight container.
