About Wheat Malpuas Recipe

I try my best to stay away from refined sugar and refined flour. Unfortunately most yummy delicacies hold these two . So now , why not try these with few alternatives. Tats how i made this wheat Malpuas , soaked them in palm candies syrup and last but not the least drizzled generous honey and almonds . Voila! Divinely melting wheat Malpuas are done , served and enjoyed as a family . This comes to my rescue , being a sweet / dessert lover . Enjoy these Malpuas without compromising your valuable health . A healthy snack for kids to enjoy few extras.

Wheat Malpuas

Ingredients to make Wheat Malpuas

  • Whole wheat flour 240gms.
  • a pinch of salt to enhance the sweetness ( purely optional )
  • water 1 large glass for batter
  • Palm candies 1 cup ( 120gms )
  • water 1 cup ( 120ml) for syrup
  • honey to drizzle over Malpuas
  • ghee 3 tablespoons for shallow frying .
  • almonds chopped 15

How to make Wheat Malpuas

  1. Firstly take wheat flour and using water gradually , prepare batter with pan cake consistency .
  2. Add salt t the batter and whisk it well to form a smooth lump free batter . Allow the batter to rest for 10 minutes .
  3. Meantime , heat a sauce pan , add 1 cup water , equal cup of palm candies and allow to boil for five minutes . Let the candies dissolve completely . Boil and switch off .
  4. Sugar syrup is prepared .
  5. In a tava , heat two tablespoons ghee , Pour half ladle batter into small small pancakes . The smaller the better . The small ones puff up and cook evenly .
  6. Flip either sides . Prepared the rest using the same method .
  7. Drop these Malpuas into the syrup prepared . Keep flipping so that that both the sides gets soaked well in the sugar syrup . Dont leave the Malpuas in the sugar syrup more than 10 minutes as it might go soggy .
  8. Take the soaked Malpuas and place it on the serving plate . Drizzle honey on top of the Malpuas . Garnish with chopped almonds . Serve warm .

My Tip:

Check the batter ‘s consistency . Needn’t be too watery nor tight . Don’t let the Malpuas soak in the sugar syrup for hours .
