ABOUT Mooli ka achaar RECIPE

My first ever achaar, recipe by my mom. An easy, tasty and healthy achaar which goes well with paratha, pooris or phulkas.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 2 cups, chopped radish/mooli
  2. 1 tbsp + 1 tsp freshly powdered mustard seeds
  3. 3 tbsp mustard oil
  4. 1 tsp red chilli powder
  5. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  6. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Take the chopped mooli in a pressure cooker, put some water and turmeric powder in it. Cook till one whistle blows and then let it cook in a low flame for 5 minutes.
  2. Turn off the flame after 5 minutes and let the pressure cooker open on its own. Take the mooli out from the pressure cooker and using a strainer discard all the water.
  3. Let it cool completely before adding rest of the ingredients. Now take the mooli in a slightly big bowl and add mustard oil, mustard powder, red chilli powder and salt to taste. Mix them well with light hands.
  4. Make sure everything is combined well. Once done, cover it and keep it in your kitchen shelf over night.
  5. The next morning, give a good stir to the achaar and keep it under sunlight. Once this sunlight procedure is over, transfer the achaar to an airtight box and refrigerate it.
