ABOUT Tilkut (A dry chutney /podi made with black sesame seeds) RECIPE

This condiment is a unique one made with a special kind of sesame seeds.These are a bit elongated than the normal ones. Hence I have added a picture of that as well. This can be used in any vegetables or whole dals as it enhances the flavour incredibly. It is a must have in any Kokni/Marathi home. Just a tablespoon added is enough.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Whole red chillies - 250 gms
  2. Black til - 150 gms
  3. Garlic - 2 pods peeled
  4. Salt as per taste

Instructions

  1. First wash the til and sun dry them as well.
  2. Dry roast the red chillies in a broad pan till they become very hot and splutter. Remove and keep aside.
  3. In a dry mixer jar grind these chillies to a coarse powder. Add the black til and grind it again.
  4. Then add the garlic and grind to make a dry chutney and salt as per taste.
  5. Store it in an airtight container. (It does not spoil for a minimum of 6 months.)
