Take Urad dal and start roasting it in a pan. soon it will change color and will become fragrant. Make sure you stir it without stopping as we want evenly roasted dal.Cool it completely.Grind it in mixer grinder and make fine powder.
Your urad dal flour is ready to be used.
Take rice flour and add urad dal flour, cumin seeds,red chilli powder,sesame seeds, salt and butter and mix it along with the flour.
Now heat water till it starts boiling.
Now slowly add in water, little by little until the flour comes together into a dough.
Cover and let the dough rest for 30 minutes.
Apply some water/oil in the chakli/murukku maker and place a portion of the dough inside it.
Tighten the lid and press the chakli maker to prepare the chakli.
Move it rounds to get a spiral shape.Make the chaklis on butter paper or aluminium foil, so that its easy to remove them.
Fry few chakli's at a time. Fry till it becomes crispy from both sides.
