Sweet Easter Brioche

ABOUT Sweet Easter Brioche RECIPE

A mildly sweet and rich bread that goes down amazingly well with orange marmalade and a pat of butter.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 2 cups All purpose flour(maida)
  2. 100gms Butter, cut into chunks
  3. 3 tbsp Powdered sugar
  4. 1 1/2 tsp Fresh yeast(or 20gms Dried yeast)
  5. 3 Eggs(reserve some egg yolk for egg wash)
  6. a generous pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Take flour in a large bowl. Tip in the butter chunks and rub into the flour till the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Make a well, add in sugar, salt, yeast and the eggs. If the dough seems too dry use a little warm water or Milk.
  3. Knead well for 15 minutes or till you get a smooth soft dough. Cover and leave to rise for 2 hours.
  4. Transfer dough on to table top and punch down, knead for another 10 minutes till dough is smooth and elastic. Divide into three portions and braid to form a loaf. Leave to rise till double.
  5. Preheat oven at 200 deg C. Brush the brioche with the reserved egg yolk and bake for 20-30 minutes, till well risen and golden on top.
