About Tirunelveli halwa Recipe

This is a quick recipe of a delicious halwa, made with wheat, a perfect desert for all occasions.

Tirunelveli halwa

Ingredients to make Tirunelveli halwa

  • Samba wheat 100 gm
  • sugar 150 gm
  • ghee 100 ml
  • water 3 cups for cooking and not for taking milk

How to make Tirunelveli halwa

  1. Soak wheat for 15 to 20 hours
  2. Take milk of wheat by grinding it well
  3. Filter the milk and keep it aside for 2 hours
  4. A layer of clear water will be in the top drain it out. This is to get rid of the sour smell formed while soaking
  5. In a pan add the milk and 3 cups of water and cook it in low flame
  6. While boiling add sugar and mix well. Keep aside 4 table spoon of sugar from this 150 gm
  7. Caramelize this sugar and add to the cooking milk
  8. Stir constantly
  9. Add ghee frequently and stir well
  10. Cook it till it leaves the sides
  11. Spread in a plate to cool it
