About Masala Pav Recipe

Masala Pav is a popular maharashtrian street food. Bread buns stuffed with spicy and tangy onion tomato based masala.

Masala Pav

Ingredients to make Masala Pav

  • Finely chopped onions 2/3 cup
  • Finely chopped tomatoes 1 cup
  • Finely chopped capsicum 1/4 cup
  • ginger garlic paste 1 tesp
  • salt 2/3 tesp
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tesp
  • turmeric powder 1/4 tesp
  • Pavbhaji masala 1+1/2 tesp
  • butter 4 tbsp
  • Pav buns 6
  • For garnish
  • Finely chopped onions
  • Green coriander leaves
  • lemon juice

How to make Masala Pav

  1. Heat 2 tbsp butter. Add onions and ginger garlic paste.
  2. Saute till onions turn light pink.
  3. Add tomatoes and capsicum.
  4. Add salt, red chilli powder and turmeric powder.
  5. Add 1 tbsp water. Cook till tomatoes get mushy and start leaving sides.
  6. Add Pav bhaji masala and 1/4 cup of water. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Cut Pav buns in half and butter them all sides.
  8. Drag the cooked masala to a side of the pan and roast buttered pav buns in same pan for 2 minutes.
  9. Put 2 tbsp of masala on one slice.
  10. Top with some chopped onions and green coriander. Sprinkle some lemon juice.
  11. Top with other slice.
  12. Place some masala on top slice and serve.
