About Dahi Bhalla Recipe

This is a delicious chat , made with urad dal. A perfect snack for all times.

Dahi Bhalla

Ingredients to make Dahi Bhalla

  • Ing for bhalla :
  • White urad dal : 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • curd : 3 tbsp full
  • water : 4-5 tbsp or as needed
  • For Serving :
  • Unsour curd : 1/2 kg
  • salt to taste
  • red chilli powder to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • cumin seed powder to taste
  • pudina chutney as needed
  • imli chutney as needed

How to make Dahi Bhalla

  1. Wash and soak urad dal in water for 2 hrs. Drain it. Add dal and curd in mixer jar and beat it by adding very less water till smooth, light & fluffy.
  2. Now pour the batter in a bowl. Mix it with a spoon for 2-3 min. Add salt and mix well. Heat oil in a kadai on high. Slow the flame.
  3. Take water in a small bowl dip the spoon in it. Take out the spoon and take batter with the same spoon and pour it in hot oil.
  4. Repeat this method to make all the bhallas. With this method batter will not stick to the spoon. Fry bhallas on slow flame for few mins and then turn the side. Bhallas will puff up.
  5. Switch the flame on high and fry both sides till bhallas are light golden. Take our bhallas on the tissue paper so that the extra oil drains away.
  6. For serving :
  7. Pour curd in a bowl. Whisk it properly. If curd is thick then add little water to adjust the consistency. Consistency of the curd should be not too thick not too thin.
  8. Place bhallas on the serving plate. Pour curd on each and every bhalla.
  9. Sprinkle salt, red chilli powder, black pepper powder, cumin seed powder. Drizzle pudina chutney and imli chutney on top.
  10. Soft, spongy and mouthmelting Dahi bhallas are ready to serve. Serve immediately.
