Sabudana khichdi

Ingredients to make Sabudana khichdi

  • sabudana 1 cup
  • potato 1
  • peas 2 tbsp
  • chana dal 1 tbsp
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • grated ginger 1 tsp
  • asafoetida 1/2 tsp
  • Green chilli 1
  • lemon juice 1 tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • sugar 1 tsp
  • turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp

How to make Sabudana khichdi

  1. Soak 1 cup big pearls of sabudana for 3-4 hours or overnight and drain water completely
  2. Cut 1 potato into small pieces with peas and pressure cook for 4 whistles on high flame.Can add more vegetables of choice.
  3. In a wok take 2 tbspmustard oil
  4. Add 1 tbsp jeera
  5. Add 1tbsp chana dal
  6. Add 1/2 tsp asafoetida powder
  7. Add one green chilli
  8. Add 1 tsp grated ginger
  9. Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  10. Fry/stir above for a minute
  11. Add the sabudana to the oil
  12. Add the boiled potatoes,peas after all the pearls of sabudana gets almost covered by oil
  13. Can add little oil from sides if pearls getting sticky
  14. In a bowl take 1tbsp fresh lime juice,1 tsp or as per taste sugar,salt as per taste
  15. Now add the lemon juice mixture from top and stir all over
  16. Turn off the heat immidiately as you notice the pearls turning sticky
  17. Add corriander leaves,fried peanuts on top for garnishing(optional)
  18. Serve hot.

My Tip:

Generous the amount of oil,less sticky it will be and the pearls should be dry as much possible.No water at all required
