About Lauki (Bottle gourd) ka kheer Recipe

Every Saturday, I try to make some snack for my mother in law and father in law. The criteria being that it should be soft and non gritty. As they have difficulty in chewing solid foods. Invariably, every time I end up making a sweet dish for them. This time it was lauki ka kheer or bottlegourd dessert.

Lauki (Bottle gourd) ka kheer

Ingredients to make Lauki (Bottle gourd) ka kheer

  • 2 cups grated bottlegourd
  • ½ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 4-5 cups milk
  • 1 tablespoon ghee
  • 3 tablespoon sugar

How to make Lauki (Bottle gourd) ka kheer

  1. Heat a medium sized pan. Add ghee into it and let it heat. Add the grated bottle gourd and fry until the raw odor disappears.
  2. Add milk to the pan and let it cook well. Mix in between and let it cook for 8-10 minutes until the bottle gourd becomes soft.
  3. Add cardamom powder. Mix and put off the heat. Let it cool for some time. Add sugar and mix.
  4. Savor this warm or after chilling in the fridge for 1-2 hours.

My Tip:

Ensure the grated bottle gourd is fried well.
