About Murmura upma/Poha Recipe

Murmura or puffed rice or muraa in every region we call it with a different name. This is all time snack recipe of my home, when my family they get bore to eat normal upma or poha I make this little tangy and sweet mumura upma for them. They all love to the core, must try recipe

Murmura upma/Poha

Ingredients to make Murmura upma/Poha

  • Puffed rice- 1 medium size bowl
  • onion- 1 slice length wise
  • green chilly- 2nos
  • corn- 1 small cup
  • Green peas- 1 small cup
  • Ground nut- 2 tbsp
  • urad dal- 1 tsp
  • mustard seeds- 1 tsp
  • curry leaves few sprigs
  • oil as required
  • turmeric- 1 tsp
  • salt as per your taste
  • sugar- 1 tsp
  • coriander leaves- handful
  • lemon- 1/2 slice

How to make Murmura upma/Poha

  1. Take puffed rice in wide bowl and sprinkle little water mixing and turning with hand.
  2. Sprinkle all over until it turns soft but not too wet
  3. Now heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds and allow it to splutters, add udal dal, ground nut and fry until it turns brown in color
  4. Add onion,green chilly, Curry leaves and fry until onion turns light pink in color.
  5. Add sweet corn, green peas and fry for another 2-3 mins, add turmeric and salt after that and mix well until all powder masala incorporates with each other
  6. Add puffed rice and mix with very lite hand, make sure you do not mash out puffed rice.
  7. Squeez lemon juice and sugar and mix slowly. Add coriander leaves and mix again.
  8. Serve hot with tea
