ABOUT Horse Gram/Kulith Salad RECIPE

Horse gram or kulith sprout salad might sound exotic, however it is one of the healthiest thing around too. Did you know horse gram can ease the kidney stone? It's anti oxidant, anti bacterial, anti fungal, anti hypoglycemic qualities are scientifically proved. It helps to get rid of urinary impurities, solve constipation and helps to keep heart in check too. So find a way to eat this gorgeous gram in any form that you can. The grain is popular in Maharashtra and Gujarat.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 100 grams Kulith/Horse gram sprouts
  2. 1/2 cup water
  3. 1 small cucumber, chopped
  4. 1 small tomato de-seeded and chopped
  5. 1/4 cup grated carrots
  6. 1 tsp grated ginger
  7. Salt and pepper to taste
  8. 3 sprigs of coriander leaves
  9. 1 tsp lemon juice, to squeeze on top

Instructions

  1. Put the sprouts in a pan and add water. Cover the pan and let it steam on a low heat for 10-12 minutes or until they are done. (By done we mean it shout not be mushy. The gram is pretty hard to start with. We want it to have a bite to it.)
  2. Once done, remove in a bowl. While it is still warm, add the ginger and tomatoes. Add the cucumber, carrots, salt, pepper, lemon juice and coriander just before serving.
