ABOUT Savoury Bread RECIPE

Its a no-yeast teabread and the texture is like a cake, not the regular yeast breads. Infact the best way to eat it will be with a dip or even warmed and slathered with butter

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 100 gms maida/white flour
  2. 25 gms wholewheat flour
  3. 25 gms butter
  4. 150 ml milk
  5. 1 egg
  6. 1/2 red bell pepper finely sliced and sauteed in butter
  7. Some freshly chopped coriander.
  8. pepper to taste
  9. A pinch of garlic powder
  10. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175 degrees celsius.
  2. Sift the flours and all the seasoning together in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Rub in the butter well with your hands into the flours
  4. Beat the egg and milk well for 5-7 mins using an electric beater.
  5. Add to the sifted flour mixture to make a stiff batter
  6. Add the sauteed bell pepper and the chopped coriander.
  7. Sprinkle grated cheese, dot with butter all over and bake for 35-40 mins.
  8. Cool on a wire rack. Serve sliced and buttered.
