Mild sweet, yummy sweet bonda with healthy ingredients

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Raw rice- 1 cup
  2. Urad dal- 1/2 cup
  3. Baking soda- a pinch
  4. Salt- a pinch
  5. Sugar- 2 cup
  6. Water- 3/4 cup
  7. lemon juice- 3 drops
  8. oil – for deep frying.
  9. Red food colour- a pinch (optional)


  1. Soak rice and urad dal for 4 hours.
  2. Grind them without water to thick paste.
  3. Mix ground paste with salt, food colour, baking soda.
  4. In a wide vessel heat sugar and water till sugar dissolves.
  5. Now low down the heat and boil till the sugar syrup attains little thick ( just one stage before one string consistency).
  6. When you drop the sugar syrup with spoon the last drop of syrup must flow slowly like string.At this stage switch off the flame and add lemon juice ( lemon juice prevents crystallization).
  7. Heat oil in kadai, when oil is hot, drop vadai batter as small balls to oil.
  8. Fry in medium heat till crisp.
  9. Remove and add to sugar syrup, Same way fry the entire batter and add to sugar syrup.
  10. The bondas will absorb sugar syrup so no need to remove from syrup, let the bondas stay in syrup itself.
  11. After 24 hours, enjoy the sweet bondas.
