Ingredients to make Manatakkali Keerai Kootu and Vathal (Superfood)

  • Black night shade / Manatakkali keerai 1 bunch
  • onion 2 sliced
  • tomatoes 2
  • garlic 6-8
  • ginger 1 inch
  • green chillies 2
  • Toor dal 1/2 cup
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • salt
  • curry leaves
  • coriander leaves
  • For tempering
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • mustard 1/2 tsp
  • jeera 1/2 tsp

How to make Manatakkali Keerai Kootu and Vathal (Superfood)

  1. PRESSURE COOK 1/2 CUP TUVR DAL, 2 TOMATOES WITH PINCH OF TURMERIC FOR 5 WHISTLES
  2. CLEAN BLACK NIGHTSHADE LEAVES THRICE TO REMOVE IMPURITIES
  3. ADD OIL. ADD MUSTARD. WHEN IT CRACKS ADD 1/2 TSP JEERA AND SLICED ONIONS
  4. WHEN ONION TURNS TRANSLUCENT, ADD CHOPPED 2 GREEN CHILLIES, 6-9 GARLIC CLOVES AND FINELY CHOPPED GINGER. SAUTE
  5. ADD CURRY LEAVES AND BLACK NIGHTSHADE LEAVES. SAUTE
  6. ADD 1/4 TSP TURMERIC AND 1/2 TSP RED CHILLI POWDER
  7. ADD SALT AND MIX
  8. ADD COOKED AND MASHED DAL
  9. ADD CHOPPED CORIANDER LEAVES. BOIL FOR 5-10 MINUTES
  10. FOR SUN-DRIED BERRY, ADD REQUIRED SALT IN THICK CURD
  11. CLEAN BERRY AND ADD TO CURD
  12. REST IT OVERNIGHT
  13. BERRY FLAVOURED CURD IS READY
  14. SEPARATE BERRY FROM CURD
  15. ADD WATER AND CONSUME THE CURD TO CURE ULCERS
  16. SUN DRY BERRY FOR 4-5 DAYS TO GET SUN DRIED VATHAL.
