ABOUT Gujarati Farsi Puri RECIPE

Farsi puri is a flaky, crispy flat round snack which goes well with coffee or tea.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Maida /All purpose flour- 1 cup
  2. Salt to taste
  3. Cumin Seeds- 1 tsp
  4. Ajwain Seeds- 1 tsp
  5. Black Pepper Powder- 1 tsp
  6. Oil- to deep fry

Instructions

  1. In a bowl mix together the flour, salt, pepper powder, cumin and ajwain.
  2. Add enough water to make a stiff dough. Cover and set aside for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan. Divide the dough into large lemon sized balls. Roll each dough into a thin disc.
  4. Apply a few drops of oil evenly on the disc. Roll the disc into a tight log. Cut into 1/2" wide slices. Now press each roll into a thin disc.
  5. Deep fry in batches on a medium flame until they are golden and the sizzling stops.
  6. Drain oil and transfer to a plate. Once cool transfer to an airtight jar.

What is the quantity if water? Is it half of flour ?
