Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Any fish with bones 1 kg
  2. Yellow mustard seeds 2 tbsp
  3. Garlic cloves 3 medium
  4. Tomatoes 3 medium (chopped)
  5. Salt to taste
  6. Turmeric powder 1 tbsp
  7. Red chilli powder 1/2 tbsp
  8. Mustard oil for 200 ml
  9. Black Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  10. Water as required for gravy
  11. Green coriander leaves - handful for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Soak yellow mustard for 30 minutes. Grind garlic cloves with the soaked mustard and make a smooth paste. Heat oil in a pan, add black mustard seeds, once it crackles add the garlic mustard paste. Add turmeric and red chilli and cook the masala on medium heat. Separately, fry the fish in mustard oil.
  2. Once it starts leaving oil, add chopped tomatoes and cook till tomatoes become soft and start giving out a nice aroma. Add water and let it boil. Add the fried fish and simmer for 5-7 minutes so that the fish absorbs curry.
  3. Turn off the heat and garnish with green coriander leaves. Serve with steamed rice.
