Rustic goan prawn curry

Prawn Curry

Ingredients to make Prawn Curry

  • 250g prawns
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • salt to taste
  • few curry leaves
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 1 big onion, finely chopped
  • 80g tomato
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 inch ginger paste
  • 1 Cup coconut Milk
  • 2 green chillies
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper powder
  • Pinch of sugar and salt to taste

How to make Prawn Curry

  1. Take the prawns and sprinkle the turmeric powder, vinegar and salt. Marinate for 15-20 minutes while you get the curry ready.
  2. Heat the oil and add the onions and fry for 5-7 minutes until golden. Add the chopped tomatoes and fry for 5 minutes. As they begin to soften, add the garlic and ginger paste and coriander and pepper powder.
  3. Fry for 2 minutes and add the marinated prawns. Stir them in the spiced sauce for a 20-30 seconds, then add the coconut milk and water.
  4. Cover and simmer gently for 5 minutes. Add the green chillies and sugar. Garnish with fried curry leaves.
